Brain-Boosting Activities

Writer: Gwen KrehbielGwen Krehbiel

In recent years, there have been a few interesting movements that taken place online which attempt to help people to increase the speed of their minds, and their general potential. Many software developers have thrown themselves into the mix by creating apps that are designed with the promise that using their intellectual property will make people smarter, but if you’re the kind of person who likes doing those kinds of things by using old fashion knowledge, then you’ll be interested in this very article that will teach you some brain boosting activities.

Challenge and Stimulate Your Mind with Games

Mind games have become popular and mainstream in the last 10 years. If you’re interested in getting a boost to your brain, then you might want to check out some of the offerings that have been popular over the years. Studies have shown that the mind can become sharper using this type of training, and it’s been found to improve several areas of development including memory, global cognition and has even been shown to slow the effect of cognitive impairment brought on by disease.

Get a Good Book

Reading is a great way to stimulate many areas of your mind. Scientists have been measurably tracking improvements in people who start to take time to read. These people seem to be able to develop complex social skills that people who read less might lack. Reading a solidly descriptive book also engages your imagination so that you don’t need to be shown things in order to conceive of them. These days you can find books online for cheap, and many used book stores are thriving without a traditional store.

Get Exercise

Over the course of a person’s life, the amount of exercise they do can play a role in how their mind develops. When scientists study the brains of athletes after performing, they found out that scans clearly expressed an increased connectivity in the frontal cortex of their brains. That part of t

he brain is part of how you can make plans for the future, weed through choices, and perform similar tasks in a day.

Meditate

Taking time to meditate is a great way to increase your IQ because it gives you a chance to organize your thoughts. If you spend a small amount of time putting things in a row to be considered for the day, you’ll find that you get more done, and think more clearly.

I do all but the mind games so I’m guessing I should start. Do you have a favorite mind game you could recommend?

Which of these do you do? Have a favorite book or meditation? Please share. Leave me a comment.
